Our History
After working in blue chip companies, large, medium and small enterprises, I felt that there was a place in the market for a new type of Virtual Assistant Service – one that could work with small to medium enterprises and provide them with the support that only the larger corporate’s enjoyed.
Working for an entrepreneur in a number of businesses, I had developed my skills in many areas working in his various businesses. I had also experienced outsourcing certain Administrations tasks with the idea that it would be a cost effective solution to employing permanent or temporary staff. Unfortunately this had not been the case and I had often felt frustration with various services as they did not use common sense, did not integrate and work as part of the business I had engaged them to support, and I often wondered how the costs accumulated!
So in February 2011 Virtual Support UK Ltd was born, after several months of studying the market, speaking to Service Providers and End Users and based on my own experience, I formed the team of hand-picked assistants and we came to market as “The New Kids on the Block!” providing a full range of services to give the small businesses that big business feel!
With a limited marketing budget, Social Media played a big part in connecting with our target markets and it wasn’t too long before we were signing up our first clients, some of whom are still with us today!
I set up a Facebook Group – Virtual Assistant Networking which now numbers nearly 400 members from around the world, and is a great base for sharing ideas, collaborating on projects along with many hints and tips and of course the inevitable chatting and sharing of experiences.
My client base and business grew rapidly on recommendations and referrals and there were soon over 30 clients regularly using our services from all different industries.
At the beginning of 2016 I started to feel is if I was living to work as opposed to working to live, always being hands on with all of my clients, I started to think about how the company was to move forward and I was to get a better work / life balance myself. I had a great team around me and some of them clearly had the passion for the businesses they were assigned to, but I felt as though I was losing my passion for the industry. This called for some serious strategic thinking and soul searching.
Specializing our Support
Since the early days our business has evolved and I have taken the Company in the direction of specializing in support for the “Caring ” Professions – Consultants, Trainers, Therapists and especially working with those in the Early Years Sector, after her wide experience in this industry working with Laura Henry, Award Winning, International Trainer, Consultant and Author, and other Trainers, Consultants and Therapists, all who I term working in the “Caring Professions” as they all have their own passion for what they do and all have a common aim to make the world a better place for their various industries and clients.
I work alongside Laura in many different projects including organising Laura’s Open Training Courses, facilitating Laura’s “Safeguarding and Protecting Every Child Conference” in November 2016 which is now to become an annual event, plus dealing with all the Events and Conferences organisation that she attends or takes part in, along with dealing with her Clients – Local Authorities, Early Years Settings, Practitioners and Childminders.
As part of working with Laura Henry, I became involved in Laura’s conception of NEyTCO, the National Early Years Trainers and Consultants Organisation that I am now extremely proud to be a Member, the only Virtual Assistant! I offer support to the organisation in their events as well as support and resources to the members and am currently working on documents to share for Trainers and Consultants starting out, to provide helpful tips and results of research into various products they can use to to keep their costs down and productivity high. It is as part of my most recent tasks that I took part in supporting the thought provoking NEyTCO Conference – “With Early Years in Mind” and I fully intend to be hands on with supporting the Organisation and all future Events.
Some might say that it is limiting the business, but I know my work within this sector and with other Consultants, Trainers and Holistic Therapists from different sectors is what is fueling my passion for Excellence. I have a real affinity and feeling for these sectors and am sure that this is the right way forward for me personally and Virtual Support UK Ltd as a company.
My Vision and Strategy is Clear!
I believe that:
- You should only ever pay for what you get – i.e. for time incurred in actually carrying out your tasks
- Your Virtual Assistant Service should integrate itself seamlessly into your business
- Your Virtual Assistant Service should care about your business, your clients, associates and business partners
- You should be totally in control of your budgets, tasks and how you want your company to be perceived by the outside world
- You should love what you do and get a “buzz” from your accomplishments!
